Still experimenting with pastels...not very happy with how it's going, but that's why I'm still working on it. I do like the background on this one, though.
This was done off of some type of marsh iris that I picked on a walk the other day. I dislike the color yellow in general, but in the plant world, yellow flowers are my absolute favorite! Weird, huh?
Maybe a little more layers & detail, but it looks fine. Do boo-coo little sketches in quick pastels all over a page, experiment and have fun. As I tell my students ,"stop trying to make pretty pictures and just have fun"...why draw otherwise.
Thanks! Yeah, it really does need more layers. I'm about to leave for work, though, and I was getting bored with it, so I figured that was a good time to call it quits.
i agree, i like the background. the purple and yellow work really well together, nice choice. and don't put your self down, at least they actually look like flowers! that's better than i could do!
the basis is there now for you to "improve" your style of what you think needs improving. but this is actually very good despite what you think
