Still experimenting with pastels...not very happy with how it's going, but that's why I'm still working on it. :) I do like the background on this one, though.

This was done off of some type of marsh iris that I picked on a walk the other day. I dislike the color yellow in general, but in the plant world, yellow flowers are my absolute favorite! Weird, huh? :D

Maybe a little more layers & detail, but it looks fine.
Do boo-coo little sketches in quick pastels all over a page, experiment and have fun.
As I tell my students ,"stop trying to make pretty pictures and just have fun"...why draw otherwise.

Thanks! :) Yeah, it really does need more layers. I'm about to leave for work, though, and I was getting bored with it, so I figured that was a good time to call it quits. :D

i agree, i like the background. the purple and yellow work really well together, nice choice. and don't put your self down, at least they actually look like flowers! that's better than i could do!

the basis is there now for you to "improve" your style of what you think needs improving. but this is actually very good despite what you think :)
